The Blackmagic Design PYXIS 6K is a professional full-frame cinema box camera designed for filmmakers, commercial productions, music videos, documentaries and high-end content creation. Unlike conventional mirrorless cameras, the PYXIS is built as a modular cinema body that can be configured with monitors, handles, cages, external batteries and other production accessories.
It features a 36 × 24mm full-frame HDR sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO of 400 and 3200. The camera records Blackmagic RAW internally, giving filmmakers extensive flexibility for professional colour grading and post-production.
The Leica L-Mount version is particularly flexible because it can use modern full-frame L-Mount lenses and a wide range of adapted lenses. Compatible lenses can provide autofocus, electronic iris control and lens metadata, although this is fundamentally a cinema camera rather than a run-and-gun autofocus camera.
